Regression Testing
Protecting existing functionality every time software changes, through risk-based regression suites, impact analysis, automation of stable checks and suite maintenance that keeps regression cycles short.
Capability overview
What regression testing involves
Every change risks breaking something that used to work: a tax rule fix affects invoice printing, a library upgrade changes date handling, a new field breaks an export used by finance. Regression testing catches these side effects, but full manual regression cycles can take weeks and delay every release.
We keep regression effective and fast by combining change impact analysis, which identifies areas likely to be affected, with prioritised suites that separate critical paths from lower-risk checks. Stable, frequently executed tests are automated, obsolete tests are retired and suites are reviewed after production incidents to close gaps. The result is a regression cycle measured in hours or a few days, with a clear statement of what was covered and what was deliberately left out for each release.

What is included
Regression services
Regression suite design
Suites organised by business capability and priority, so critical journeys are always tested first.
Impact analysis
Code changes, dependencies and release notes analysed to select additional targeted tests for each release.
Regression automation
High-frequency regression checks automated and run in pipelines or nightly schedules.
Suite maintenance
Outdated, duplicate and low-value tests removed or merged to keep execution time under control.
Production incident feedback
Tests added for defects that escaped, preventing the same failure from recurring.
How we work
How we deliver regression testing
Suite audit
Existing regression tests reviewed for relevance, duplication, execution time and defect-finding history.
Prioritisation
Tests tiered into critical, standard and extended sets based on business risk.
Automation of stable tiers
Critical and repeatable checks automated first to shorten each cycle.
Release execution
Core suite plus impact-based selections executed for each release.
Cycle metrics
Regression duration, defects found and escaped defects tracked to guide improvements.

API Testing
Testing APIs directly for correct responses, business rules, error handling, security checks, contract compatibility and performance, using Postman, REST Assured, Karate or Pact in automated pipelines.
Integration Testing
Testing how modules, services and external systems work together, including data flows between applications, message queues, third-party APIs and batch interfaces, using service virtualisation where partners are unavailable.
Performance Testing
Measuring and improving how fast and efficiently applications respond, from backend response times and database queries to front-end rendering, with bottleneck analysis that explains why systems are slow.
Load & Stress Testing
Simulating peak and extreme traffic to confirm systems handle sale days, admission results, tax deadlines and campaign launches, and to find breaking points before real users do.

Questions about Regression Testing
Cannot find what you need? Our team responds to technical and commercial questions within one business day.
Ask a questionNot always. A critical core suite should run every release, with extended tests selected based on impact analysis and risk. Major upgrades may still justify full regression.
Remove low-value tests, automate stable checks, run tests in parallel, test through APIs where possible and use impact analysis to focus manual effort.
Suites drift from how the product is used, test data lacks variety or integrations are not covered. Reviewing escaped defects and updating suites closes these gaps over time.
Per release cycle for fixed scope, or as part of a monthly QA or automation team engagement.
