Automated Testing
Automating the checks that must run repeatedly, such as regression suites, smoke tests, API tests and data validations, so releases are verified in hours instead of days and testers focus on higher-value work.
Capability overview
What automated testing involves
Test automation pays back when the same checks run often and the application under test is stable enough that tests do not need rewriting every sprint. Automating everything is a common mistake: teams end up maintaining thousands of brittle UI scripts that fail for reasons unrelated to real defects, and eventually stop trusting the results.
We automate selectively, starting with high-value regression paths and favouring fast API and component tests over slow end-to-end UI tests, following the test pyramid. Tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, REST Assured and Postman are chosen to fit your stack, and every automated test has a clear owner and purpose. Automation is treated as software, with code review, version control and ownership.

What is included
Automation scope
Automation candidate analysis
Existing manual tests scored on execution frequency, stability, business risk and automation effort.
UI automation
Critical user journeys automated with resilient locators, explicit waits and isolated test data.
API and service automation
Business rules tested through APIs, which run faster and break less often than UI tests.
Smoke and sanity suites
Short suites that verify deployments within minutes, suitable for every build.
Reporting
Results with screenshots, logs and trends published to dashboards and pull requests.
How we work
How we deliver automated testing
Automation assessment
Current tests, application architecture and team skills reviewed to set realistic goals.
Pilot suite
A small set of high-value tests automated to prove tooling and approach.
Suite expansion
Further tests automated in priority order with code reviews and standards.
Flakiness control
Unstable tests quarantined, analysed and fixed rather than rerun until they pass.
Maintenance cycle
Tests updated alongside application changes, with obsolete tests removed.
Related capabilities
Related capabilities in Quality Engineering & Testing
Functional Testing
Verification that each feature behaves according to requirements and business rules, across user roles, data conditions, validations, calculations and workflows, before it reaches users.
Regression Testing
Protecting existing functionality every time software changes, through risk-based regression suites, impact analysis, automation of stable checks and suite maintenance that keeps regression cycles short.
API Testing
Testing APIs directly for correct responses, business rules, error handling, security checks, contract compatibility and performance, using Postman, REST Assured, Karate or Pact in automated pipelines.
Integration Testing
Testing how modules, services and external systems work together, including data flows between applications, message queues, third-party APIs and batch interfaces, using service virtualisation where partners are unavailable.

Questions about Automated Testing

Ask a questionThere is no universal target. Aim to automate stable, repetitive, high-risk regression checks. Coverage percentage matters less than whether the suite reliably catches meaningful defects.
Common causes are timing assumptions, shared test data, unstable environments, fragile selectors and test order dependencies. Each flaky test should be investigated rather than simply rerun.
Yes, though UI automation may be harder. API, database and service-level tests often provide effective coverage for older systems.
Automation suites for defined scope are fixed price. Ongoing automation development and maintenance is usually provided by dedicated engineers billed monthly.
