What cloud architecture involves
Good cloud architecture is mostly about the decisions that are expensive to reverse: how accounts or subscriptions are organised, how networks connect to offices and data centres, which database services hold critical data, and how an application survives the loss of a zone or region.
We design landing zones based on AWS Control Tower, Azure landing zone guidance or Google Cloud foundation blueprints, and review application designs against the provider well-architected frameworks for security, reliability, performance, cost and operational excellence. Every significant choice is recorded as an architecture decision record.

Account or subscription hierarchy, guardrails, central logging, identity federation and shared networking that every workload inherits.
Network architecture
Hub and spoke or transit designs, private connectivity through Direct Connect or ExpressRoute, DNS and ingress patterns.
Application architecture
Choice of compute, managed databases, queues and caching, sized for expected load and designed to fail gracefully.
Well-architected reviews
Existing workloads assessed against the five pillars, with high-risk issues and remediation effort listed.

Options and trade-offs
Two or three candidate designs compared on cost, complexity and resilience rather than presenting a single answer.
Detailed design
Diagrams, component specifications, naming and tagging standards, and decision records produced for the chosen option.
Proof of concept
Risky parts of the design, such as cross-region replication or hybrid DNS, built and tested before full implementation.
Handover to builders
Design walked through with platform and application teams, and architects stay available to answer questions during the build.
